Oh hi :)

My name is Robyn and I am a born and raised New Brunswicker based in Moncton and dedicated to all things film-related.

I am a graduate of the Da Vinci College of Art and Design in Fredericton, New Brunswick where I studied digital filmmaking and since then I have been living the dream, telling stories. The most valuable thing I have learned in my creative pursuit is to find beauty in the everyday life.

In college my plan was to become the next Greta Gerwig but by the time I graduated I had completely fallen in love with documentary storytelling. I started filming weddings under my new small business and I never looked back.

Where does the name Bus Twenty Studios come from?

I often get a lot of confusion around my business name. To the point where I wonder if I should change it to something like my given name. In the early days of my career I used to do a lot of wedding trade shows, and people who walked by my booth thought I was a party bus - thus confronting me with the question, should I keep this name? Is it too confusing for people to understand my business? I’m kind of really attached to the name so I haven’t yet, and I thought maybe I would share the story here incase you were wondering.

I graduated college when I was twenty years old. Being so young in our post-recession world I was holding out hope that I was going to find a job and in the mean time I wanted to freelance. I didn’t really want to use my own name because I wanted my work to be separate from me.

I was constantly being rejected from jobs. From salary to retail I was not getting work and I was growing increasingly anxious about my bills and student loan payments. I was starting to think that maybe a traditional job wasn’t for me. One morning my mom tells me about a dream she had the night before. I was standing at a bus stop waiting for bus number ten. Buses would come and I would ask if it was the right bus, and when they said no I would wait for the next one. Finally a bus full of life came and opened its doors to me. I asked “is this bus number 10?”

and the driver said, “no this is the number twenty bus, but we’ll take you to where you want to go.” I got on the bus and it left.

After my mom told me this, I decided to name my business Bus Twenty Studios, because I believed it would take me to where I wanted to go.
